Detention Basin Project in Chiayi County, Taiwan

◎ Description：

A detention basin is a reserved area, excavated and located on, or adjacent to river, lake and bay for flooding prevention. A detention basin works like a temporary large scale reservoir which can store flood water for a limited period of time.

This case is reported in Dunggang Village, Budai Township of Chiayi County. The Village become below sea level because of land subsidence and raising sea level. The villagers suffered from flooding during the raining and typhoon season. Therefore, the Government built water barrier, detention basin and pumping station for flooding management.

HCP LA Submersible Axial Pump series was selected and installed in this project. These pumps serve as the dewatering device for rain water, wastewater and salty sea water during the flooding season.
